Pay to: Altergate PublishingWith great joy I’m notifying you about the release of my new book “Vinyl Highway (singing as Dick and Dee Dee).” Finally, thirty five years after the group dissolved, the book reveals the real story behind the music! But what happened to us throughout our nine year career was even more fascinating. I’ve selected a wide variety of experiences to share in the book’s pages.
“Vinyl Highway” is filled with untold tales of some of the world's superstar musical groups, like the Beach Boys (one of our first back up bands!), the Rolling Stones (how we managed to record our voices on their backup tracks), and numerous other entertainers.
From 1964 to 1966, Dick and I sang as semi-regulars on the top national television music show, Shindig.
When a song Dick and I recorded, “The Mountain’s High” becomes number one in San Francisco, our travel odyssey began. Although we’d never sung live on a stage together, we set off on our first tour. Somehow we didn’t realize we’d be traveling in a segregated state with an integrated tour. After that experience, nothing was ever the same again.
For the next five years, Dick and I traveled the world, performing with numerous recording artists and bands.
From 1964 to 1966, Dick and I sang as semi-regulars on the top national television music show, Shindig. Somehow, a clueless teenage girl grew into young woman in spite of life as a “rock and roll singer.”
My intention in writing this book was to inspire and entertain. I wanted to give back to those who have been generous with their compliments about how our music influenced their lives. I hope you get a chance to review the book, as it is sent with love.
